As a former Republican, now unaffiliated, I have watched our nation and society devolve to this point, for the past 30 years. It has been a long, well organized process by several specific groups and unfortunately a very effective propaganda machine.
If you are now worried about your financial future, you should be; however there is more at risk than that single concern.
As I first retired in 2013, I already feared the momentum toward the end of our democracy.
but never imagined the nation, I was proud of, could fall so far so fast.
Republicans have alienated anyone who doesn't walk in lockstep with their current views, so I hope to give you some things to think about and look forward to hearing from others with the same types of concerns.

THE MIDDLE CLASS IS AT SERIOUS RISK!!
A political ploy, by Christian Nationalists, in 2002 (explained later in my website) made me pay attention to how they've deceitfully destroyed our nation ever since. Of course it was depressing, as I've had so many "OMG, this cannot be happening moments!!" It took only 5 months of the current administration for me to find myself alone in my house, with everything laid out to get me out of this world.
Barry Goldwater was a senator from Arizona for many years and was a driving force in courting Christians to the Republican Party when he was the Republican nominee for President, in 1964. He was an extreme conservative and his views were rejected in the 1964 election. However, he had already begun speaking out regarding the danger Christian Nationalists would be, by 1981, as he celebrated Ronald Reagan's Presidential victory.
Slane From the Middle spawns from the tipping points facing our nation and the belief there are many, like myself, who have been defeated by the hate pervasive in our nation. This personal project aims to offer a safe site for those caught in the "Middle", a safe site to communicate their thoughts and concerns regarding how our nation has fallen, as well as what the future may hold.
In today's world, finding the truth becomes more challenging everyday, so I hope to offer you some insights to make up your own minds, while also allowing the opportunity for your input as we go along.
